The Castle of Tournon, also known as the castle-museum, is a former fortress that has been restored and remodeled. The majority of the castle dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries. It is situated in the French commune of Tournon-sur-Rhône, in the Ardèche department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Current Use of the Castle

The Castle of Tournon was inhabited by the lords of Tournon until the 17th century. After that, it served as a prison until 1926. Today, the castle houses a museum that showcases a variety of collections, offering visitors a glimpse into the past.

Historical Significance and Preservation

The Castle of Tournon is one of the best-preserved castles in the Ardèche. It has been listed as a historical monument on three separate occasions: July 12, 1927, March 28, 1938, and March 1, 1960. Since 1928, the castle has been home to the collections of the Rhône Museum.
