The Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco, located in the Tlatelolco Tower, is a multidisciplinary space that belongs to the National Autonomous University of Mexico. It is dedicated to building innovative forms of public influence for peace, human rights, and the exercise of citizenship. This is achieved through memory, critical thinking, empathy, and artistic and cultural manifestations. The center promotes the study, research, and dissemination of topics related to art, memory, and resistance processes, as well as the cultural formation of the various publics and communities that frequent its spaces.
The Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco is situated on the southeast side of the Nonoalco Tlatelolco Housing Unit. It is bordered to the north by the Tlatelolco Archaeological Zone and the Plaza of the Three Cultures, to the south by Ricardo Flores Magón Avenue, to the west by the central axis Lázaro Cárdenas, and to the east by service areas of the housing unit itself. This location makes it easily accessible and surrounded by other cultural and historical sites.
In 2018, the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco underwent a profound restructuring of its museum spaces. This restructuring resulted in the creation of new spaces dedicated to the arts, memory, and resistance processes. These changes have shaped the center's current configuration and have enhanced its role as a cultural and educational hub.
The permanent exhibition of the M68 Memorial 1968 social movements at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco is a product of collective curatorship. It consists of 32 cores that merge digital devices, artistic commissions created specifically for the exhibition, pieces of art, and documents from public and private archives. This exhibition offers two main thematic tours, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the social movements of 1968.
