Criterion Blue Town Heritage Centre and its collection

The Blue Town heritage centre is a mixture of museum, music hall, cinema and educational and research facility. It is adjacent to Sheerness dockyard and its aims are to promote and preserve the history of Blue town and the isle of Sheppey. Walks, talks and tours are arranged on a regular basis and bespoke visits organised to suit the needs of groups. We have school work sheets, are signed up as part of Kent's children's university. We use film in our 100 seater cinema to show how the area has changed. We encourage a hands on approach to learning.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

The Criterion Blue Town Heritage Centre in Sheerness, England, offers visitors a look into the local history of the area. The museum is housed in a former cinema and music hall, which adds to its charm. Visitors appreciate the diverse collection of artifacts and exhibits that showcase the industrial and social heritage of Sheerness and the Isle of Sheppey. The staff and volunteers are often praised for their knowledge and enthusiasm, providing informative tours and insights into the displays. However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small and can be explored quite quickly. The exhibits are generally well-presented, but a few reviewers mention that some areas could benefit from better organization or updating. Despite its size, many find the museum to be an informative and enjoyable experience, particularly for those interested in local history. The center also hosts various events and temporary exhibitions, which adds value for repeat visitors. While it may not be a full-day destination, it is generally considered a worthwhile stop for those exploring Sheerness and looking to learn about its past.
