Opened September 1st 1831, Dublin Zoo was founded as a private society by anatomists and physicists. The zoo has hosted over one million visitors. Sitting on a 70 acre piece of land, the Dublin Zoo hosts over 600 animals which range from spot giraffes to rhinos and zebras. Visitors can hang out with gorillas at the Gorilla Rainforest or travel through the Kaziranga forest trails to see the Asian elephants. At the Asian Forests visitors can see Asian lion cubs, Sumatran tigers and Sulawesi crested macaques.
