The Ducal Palace of Pastrana, a Renaissance masterpiece, was designed in the 16th century by the renowned architect Alonso de Covarrubias. It is situated in the charming town of Pastrana, in the province of Guadalajara, within the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. This historical monument offers a glimpse into the architectural brilliance of the Renaissance period.
The Ducal Palace of Pastrana was declared a National Monument in 1941 and was further recognized as a Historic-Artistic Site in 1966. The palace's architectural design is square in plan, featuring towers at each corner and a central courtyard, a design credited to Antonio Fernández Alba. These features contribute to the palace's unique charm and historical significance.
The Ducal Palace of Pastrana also features a terraced garden at the back, adding to its aesthetic appeal. However, due to various legal reasons, the construction of the palace was never fully completed. The facade of the palace is made of ashlar, a type of stone masonry, and is minimally ornamented, reflecting the simplicity and elegance of Renaissance architecture.
