The Ecomusée des Forges in Inzinzac-Lochrist is a cultural institution that aims to preserve the industrial heritage of the Hennebont Forges. These forges were operational from 1860 to 1966 and played a significant role in the region's industrial history. The museum was established in 1981, following the destruction of the Forges' buildings, and is housed in one of the former Forge buildings.
The Ecomusée des Forges offers a comprehensive view of the history and operations of the Hennebont Forges. It showcases the foundation of the Forges, the union movements, strikes, the Forges during World War II, and the technical aspects of work in the Forges. This is achieved through a variety of documents and objects that provide a tangible connection to the past.
The Ecomusée des Forges is open to groups throughout the year and to individual visitors from April to early November, as well as at the beginning of the Christmas holidays. The museum regularly offers various activities and cultural events, which complement the traditional guided tours. This makes it a dynamic and engaging destination for visitors of all ages.
