The Flugmuseum Aviaticum is situated at the civilian airport Wiener Neustadt/Ost in Wiener Neustadt. The museum is home to a variety of exhibits and models of aircraft, with a particular focus on the history of gliding in Austria. Visitors can expect to see a range of aircraft from different periods, providing a comprehensive overview of the evolution of gliding in the country.
While an official reopening of the Flugmuseum Aviaticum is still pending, the museum is already welcoming visitors again. Group visits are possible with prior registration, allowing tourists to plan their visit in advance and ensure they can explore the museum at a time that suits them.
The Flugmuseum Aviaticum is based on the collection of pioneer Toni Kahlbacher (1914–2004) and Reinhard Keimel. The collection was initially intended for an Austrian gliding museum in Hundsheim/ Spitzerberg, but this could not be realized. Instead, the collection found its home in Wiener Neustadt, providing a rich resource for the museum's exhibits.
