Fort Heldsberg, constructed between 1938 and 1940, is located near St. Margrethen in Switzerland. The fort overlooks the Rhine, which forms the border between Switzerland and Austria at this location. The fort is situated just south of Lake Constance, providing a strategic view of the surrounding area.
Fort Heldsberg was decommissioned in 1992 and was sold by the Swiss military to the town of St. Margrethen. Since then, it has been operated as a museum, which opened its doors to the public in 1993.
