The UNESCO Global Geopark of Granada is a significant part of the UNESCO geopark network. It is situated in the southeast of Spain, specifically in the province of Granada. The geopark spans an impressive area of 4,722 kmยฒ, covering the regions of Guadix, Baza, and Huรฉscar. This vast expanse offers a diverse range of geological, geomorphological, and paleontological features for visitors to explore.
In addition to its natural features, the UNESCO Global Geopark of Granada is also known for its historical, artistic, and cultural heritage. The area is home to cave dwellings that have been inhabited since the Middle Ages. Furthermore, the geopark boasts an abundance of archaeological sites, including 72 Places of Geological Interest (LIGS), which offer a glimpse into the region's rich past.
