Historiehuis van de Maasvallei (Historyhouse of the river Maas-valley houses a knowledge and information center about the Dutch-Belgian Maas-valley. With an experience room, library, mini cinema and visual and digital presentations. Here visitors will find information and inspiration about the history, culture and landscape of the Maas valley, the villages and the inhabitants. It is also a meeting place for residents, entrepreneurs, students and tourists. The knowledge and information center can be found in a separate and freely accessible room of the Historiehuis van de Maasvallei. Part of the Historiehuis is also an archaeological and ethnological regional museum . The story of the Maas valley is told in the main building and the two adjoining 18th-century workers' houses. Visitors take a journey through time, starting with a settlement of the Linear Ceramics from the Stone Age, through Roman times, Middle Ages to the 1950s. Among other things, the museum displays pottery, grave goods and bronze pins. There is also attention for old crafts such as miners. The museum also houses a village shop from the early 20th century; very nice for children.
