Source

The Iberian Museum, situated in the city of Jaén, Spain, is home to an impressive collection of Iberian art. This collection primarily consists of pieces from the existing collection at the Jaén Museum and other funds, as well as new archaeological finds. The museum aims to become an international reference point for Iberian art.

Opening and Permanent Exhibition

The Iberian Museum opened its doors to the public on December 11, 2017. The opening was marked by the temporary exhibition titled "The Lady, the Prince, the Hero and the Goddess". This exhibition, which showcases four prototypical characters of the Iberian culture, has since become a permanent feature of the museum.

Sources of the Museum's Collections

The majority of the collections at the Iberian Museum are sourced from the Jaén Museum. Additionally, artifacts from various Iberian sites in Jaén, including Cerrillo Blanco (Porcuna), Cástulo (Linares), Puente Tablas (Jaén), Cortijo del Pajarillo (Huelma), Atalayuelas (Fuerte del Rey), and the sepulchral chamber of Toya, contribute to the museum's extensive collection.

The Iberian Museum in Jaén, Spain, offers visitors an informative look into the ancient Iberian culture. The museum houses a significant collection of artifacts, including sculptures, pottery, and jewelry, which provide insights into the daily life and customs of the Iberian people. Many visitors appreciate the well-organized exhibits and the detailed explanations provided, which help in understanding the historical context of the items on display. The museum's location within the Cultural Center of Jaén adds to its appeal, making it easily accessible for tourists and locals alike. While some reviewers mention that the museum is relatively small, most agree that the quality of the exhibits makes up for its size. The use of multimedia presentations and interactive displays enhances the overall experience, though a few visitors note that some sections could benefit from updates or more extensive information in languages other than Spanish. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Iberian Museum is generally regarded as a valuable cultural attraction in Jaén, offering a comprehensive overview of an important period in Spanish history.
