The Kuffner Observatory is a public observatory in Vienna that was founded in 1884 as a well-equipped private observatory with a research institute attached to it. The Kuffner Observatory contains four main telescopes, but its highlight is the heliometer, an instrument originally designed for measuring the variation of the sun's diameter, which is still the largest instrument of its kind in the world today. At the observatory, astronomical training, weekly star tours and cultural programs are organized.
