The Corps Franc Pommiès (CFP) is a significant part of French history, founded on November 17, 1942 by André Pommiès. This Pyrenean corps operated throughout the South-West region after the sponsorship of the ORA proposed on February 17, 1943, a territorial subordination offer accepted by André Pommiès. The CFP is a testament to the resilience and bravery of the French resistance during World War II.
In 1944, the Corps Franc Pommiès (CFP) had grown to nearly 9,000 men, spread throughout the South-West territory of France. This shows the scale and impact of the CFP during the resistance. The corps was predominantly made up of volunteers from the South-West of France, including some active or reserve military personnel, as well as some young Italian and Spanish volunteers.
