The Mendel Museum of Masaryk University is dedicated to the promotion of Gregor Mendel's legacy, a scientist, Augustinian friar and abbot of St. Thomas' Abbey in Brno. The museum is housed within the precincts of the Augustinian abbey in Old Brno where Mendel lived and worked. Mendel is primarily known for his research on plants and in particular peas and is often called the father of genetics. The Mendel Museum in Brno tries to demonstrate his genius, and to raise awareness about the fields of study.
