Montaigut Castle, located in Gissac, Aveyron, is a fortified castle that offers a commanding view of the Rougier de Camarรจs. The castle's history can be traced back to the 10th century, making it a site of significant historical interest.
The Montaigut Castle underwent significant transformations over the centuries. In the 15th century, the Blanc family expanded the castle and made it their residence. Later, in the 17th century, the bourgeois de Rouvelet took ownership and carried out extensive restorations, including plastering all the interior walls and adding a lauze roof. The castle's defense system was also dismantled during this period.
Today, Montaigut Castle serves as a permanent center for cultural activities. Visitors can not only explore the historical monument but also participate in various cultural events and activities that are regularly organized at the castle.
