Lovely building. Poor directions. When I entered the first exhibition called Connectivities there was no sign pointing to the left to go to the starting point. There were two equal directions to take. One daughter went left. The other right. I joined the daughter on the right. It was hard to understand what the exhibition was about. There were large displays without explanation. The exhibition was meaningless and seemed a waste of time. There were only sporadic labels. Later I found out that we had gone through the exhibit backwards. The other daughter who had seen it chronologically thought that it was very good. What a disappointment for me. How stupid for the museum not to put a large arrow on the wall or on the floor to direct the visitors to take the correct direction.

The Musée des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée, or MUCEM, is located in the Fort St. Jean and the outdoor parts are free. If you go inside you will see the lovely architecture of the beautiful modern building with a great view on the sea. Inside the museum, you can see the entire Mediterranean region together. For us it was a must visit!
