The Museo de la Naturaleza de Cantabria is situated in an 18th-century mansion in the Cantabrian village of Carrejo. This location is just 1.5 kilometers away from Cabezón de la Sal, Spain. The museum's location in a historical building adds a unique charm to the visitor's experience.
The Museo de la Naturaleza de Cantabria consists of four exhibition rooms that showcase the fauna and flora of the Cantabrian region. In addition, there is a section dedicated to thematic temporary exhibitions. Most of the exhibits consist of stuffed animals, some of which were made by José María Benedito, a member of the Museo de Ciencias Naturales de Madrid, and by J. Patón. The oldest pieces in the museum date back to 1913, offering visitors a glimpse into the past.

Museo De La Naturaleza De Cantabria has 2 ratings.
A delightful museum with extremely well presented information, brilliantly recreated habitat scenes, using both stuffed animals and exquisite models and an interesting library. Any library giving visitors access to natural history-related books, including the rare History of British Butterflies by the Reverend F G Morris, 1904, is fine by me. To have such close views of the plumage of so many birds with a room full of excellently preserved stuffed birds, is a privilege. Sad though they are, of course one would have loved for the beautiful birds not to have been hunted, they are fabulous and most European bird species are in superb condition. Just sit on the floor and be next to the Great Bustard for instance. Look closely at the intricacy of its plumage. Wonderful, friendly staff made my visit complete and I thoroughly recommend the museum if you have even the slightest interest in the nature of Cantabria.
