The Museo del Siglo XIX was situated in the historic center of Bogota, Colombia. It was located next to the Palacio de Nariรฑo, which is the seat of the Colombian government. This location made it a significant cultural landmark in the city.
From 1980 to 2011, the Museo del Siglo XIX amassed a collection of approximately 2500 pieces. These pieces not only covered the arts such as painting, sculpture, drawing, and engraving developed in Colombia during the 19th century, but also included historical elements and decorative arts. These artifacts documented the lifestyle of the emerging population of Santa Fe during that period.
The Museo del Siglo XIX was organized into thematic rooms. These rooms were dedicated to various aspects such as clothing, applied arts, furniture and decoration, portrait, landscape, miniature, pencil drawing, and caricature. This organization allowed visitors to explore different facets of 19th-century Colombian life and culture.
