Museo Diotti, located in Casalmaggiore, is an art museum that showcases art from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is housed in an ancient building that was once owned by the painter Giuseppe Diotti. The museum not only serves as an art gallery but also as a house-museum aiming to reconstruct the image of the artist's studio and to provide an educational insight into the artist's working method.
The museum exhibits works by a variety of artists. These include Giuseppe Diotti, Marcantonio Ghislina, Francesco Antonio Chiozzi, Paolo Araldi, Paolo Troubetzkoy, Tommaso Aroldi, and Amedeo Bocchi. The collection spans from Diotti's study years in Rome, through preparatory drawings for various frescoes showing the painter's attention to the human figure and its representation, to studies for the painting depicting the Oath of Pontida.
In addition to the works of the 19th century, the museum also features a modern art gallery. This gallery houses significant works of the 20th century by predominantly local artists such as Mario Beltrami, Gianfranco Manara, Tino Aroldi, and Goliardo Padova. These works particularly depict landscapes, especially of the surrounding countryside of Casalmaggiore and the Po River.
