Location and History of the Museo Nacional de Arte Oriental
The Museo Nacional de Arte Oriental was established on July 14, 1965, and first opened to the public on August 5, 1966. The museum has since moved and is now located on the second floor of the Centro Cultural Borges since December 7, 2022. This central location makes it easily accessible for tourists visiting Buenos Aires.

The Museo Nacional de Arte Oriental boasts an impressive collection of over 3000 pieces. These include glazed ceramic statuettes from Egypt, portable altars from 17th century Japan, prayer rugs from Tibet, Chinese jade and ivory carvings, Indian serigraphs, and carved wooden fans. The museum also houses contemporary Japanese and Korean calligraphy works, offering a wide range of artistic expressions from different cultures.
