Museum Barberine's House and its collection

The Barberine's House is an ethnographic museum that offers a unique glimpse into the past. It is located in a traditional house in Vallorcine, a charming village in the Chamonix valley near the Swiss border. The house itself dates back to the early 18th century, making it a historical landmark in its own right.

Preservation of Barberine's House

The Barberine's House was built in 1705 by Nicolas Ancey and is visible on the Sardinian cadastre of 1730. Remarkably, the house has remained preserved in the state of the 19th century. The last descendant lived there until 1949, maintaining the original comfort and installations of the house. This makes the museum a true time capsule, offering visitors a chance to step back in time and experience life as it was centuries ago.
