Stadskasteel Zaltbommel is a monumental building from 1535 located in the city centre. On the ground floor, the museum illustrates the 16th century history of the ‘Bommelerwaard’. On the first floor paintings, Art Nouveau style copper works and various kinds of furniture are displayed. The museum also features a permanent exhibition on the life and work of Fiep Westendorp, the illustrator of Jip en Janneke and Puk van de Petteflet.

    Mooi klein museum. Vriendelijke ontvangen en korte uitleg gekregen over het museum. Je krijgt ook nog informatie over het museum op geplastificeerd papier, herbruikbaar :). Het kasteel is mooi gerestaureerd, alleen jammer dat er torens zijn toegevoegd die er origineel niet waren. Kleine tentoonstelling over Maarten van Rossem, o.a informatie over zijn veldslagen en wapenschild. Daarnaast ook verschillende voorwerpen die in de omgeving zijn gevonden. Op de 1e verdieping een kamer met enkele mooie kannen uit Zaltbommel in art deco stijl. Op de bovenste verdieping was een tentoonstelling van Fiep Westendorp met prachtige tekeningen! Daarnaast was er een interessante film over haar leven en passie voor tekenen en de figuren die ze ontwikkelde. Kopje koffie op in museumcafé in de tuin. Daarna door Zaltbommel gewandeld met zijn stadswal, mooi park, authentieke straatjes, rivieren en terrasjes.
