Museum Elisabeth Weeshuis is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Culemborg: the Elisabeth Orphanage constructed in 1560. It is the first newly built orphanage in the Netherlands. Until 1952 this historic building provided shelter to more than six hundred orphans and half-orphans. In the orphanage museum the visitor learns about the goings on in the orphanage and the lives of the children.
