The Musée de la Coutellerie, or Cutlery Museum, is a cultural history museum situated in the city of Nogent, within the French department of Haute-Marne. This museum is dedicated to the history and craft of cutlery making, a tradition that has been part of Nogent's identity since the 17th century.
Established in 1991, the Cutlery Museum aims to preserve the cultural heritage of cutlery production in Nogent. It provides a comprehensive view of the technical and social aspects of cutlery production from the 18th century to the present day, offering visitors a unique insight into this traditional craft.
The museum's collection is extensive, with over 8000 objects sorted into seven categories of cutlery. These categories include folding cutlery, table cutlery, professional cutlery, scissors, hand tools, and toilet and surgical instruments. This diverse collection provides a comprehensive overview of the many uses and forms of cutlery throughout history.
