The Museum of Torture, located in the picturesque town of Santillana del Mar in Cantabria, is a unique historical site. It houses an extensive collection of over fifty original torture and capital punishment instruments. These artifacts, which originate from Europe, span a period from the 15th to the 19th centuries. This provides a fascinating, albeit grim, insight into the methods of punishment used in the past.
The Museum of Torture is not just a historical site, but also a popular tourist attraction in the Cantabrian municipality. It is considered one of the most unusual museums in Spain, offering a unique perspective on the history of punishment and justice. Visitors can expect a distinctive experience that is both educational and thought-provoking.
