The MUV - Museum and Documentation Center of Villanovan Civilization is an archaeological museum that is situated in the former barn of the rural complex of Casa Sant'Anna in Villanova di Castenaso, a fraction of Castenaso, metropolitan city of Bologna. This location offers a unique setting for the museum, providing a historical context that enhances the visitor's experience.
The MUV - Museum and Documentation Center of Villanovan Civilization is located where the Bolognese archaeologist Count Giovanni Gozzadini discovered the traces of the oldest phase of the Etruscan civilization between 1853 and 1856. This phase, which developed between the beginning of the first millennium BC and the last decades of the 8th century BC, was until then unknown in Italy. Gozzadini named it "Villanoviana" after the name of Villanova. This historical significance adds a layer of depth to the museum's exhibits.
In 2018, a hut was inaugurated in the garden adjacent to the museum buildings. This hut was reconstructed in the style of those from the early Iron Age, providing visitors with a tangible representation of the period's architecture and living conditions.
