I went as a helper with a group of 60 6 year olds. What a wonderful time was had. The staff were so kindly and helpful. Clever storage trolleys for all coats and packed lunches. The excitement at seeing the magnificent rolling stock was like electricity. Two amazing ‘interactive talks’ involving the children. My favourite was sitting on the padded floor of a goods railway carriage whilst a guide with a twinkle in his eye had us all laughing and shouting at a Punch and Judy What a great way to release the pent up ness of children who had been sat on a coach. Such joy. Later our second equally entertaining and informative chat was about The Rocket which again involved the children. Highly recommended day out.

The National Railway Museum is a very interesting museum with lots to see and do. You don’t need to be a railway enthusiast to like this museum. The museum has a lot of diverse locomotives and rail memorabilia on display in a nice layout. The museum is free, so there is no reason not to go here!
