The Nicéphore Niépce House, also known as Le Gras, is a historical museum dedicated to the art of photography. It was the residence of Nicéphore Niépce, the inventor of photography, who lived there from 1765 to 1833. The house is located in the picturesque town of Saint-Loup-de-Varennes, in the Saône-et-Loire department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in France.
In 1999, the photographer Pierre-Yves Mahé invested in the Niépce house. He had it fully restored and opened it to the public in 2007. The house now exhibits what is known as "the oldest photo lab in the world", offering visitors a unique insight into the early days of photography.
