The North Carolina Aquarium At Fort Fisher in Kure Beach offers visitors an engaging and educational marine experience. The aquarium features a diverse array of aquatic life, with exhibits showcasing both local and exotic species. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained tanks and the opportunity to see various marine animals up close, including sharks, sea turtles, and colorful fish.
The touch tank experiences, where guests can interact with stingrays and other marine creatures, are particularly popular among families and children. The knowledgeable staff members are often praised for their friendly demeanor and willingness to answer questions, enhancing the learning experience for visitors of all ages.
While many find the aquarium to be informative and enjoyable, some visitors note that it is smaller compared to other major aquariums. This can lead to a somewhat crowded experience during peak times. Additionally, a few guests mention that some exhibits could benefit from updates or expansions.
The outdoor gardens and butterfly area provide a nice complement to the indoor exhibits, allowing visitors to explore local flora and fauna. The albino alligator exhibit is often cited as a unique and memorable attraction.
Overall, the North Carolina Aquarium At Fort Fisher provides a solid aquarium experience with a focus on education and conservation. While it may not be the largest aquarium, its intimate size allows for a more focused and manageable visit, especially for families with young children.
The aquarium was LOVELY! It was very well kept with gorgeous well stocked exhibits. The animals appeared healthy, content & and beautiful to photograph.
What stuck out to me was the attentiveness and helpfulness of the front desk and operations team as I had been unfortunate enough to lose my highly sentimental ring by dropping it through the cracks of the shark bites deck. When I told the staff about my issue they were extremely compassionate and immediately helped me, going through great lengths to recover my ring. A HUGE THANK YOU TO THEM!!!!
