The Nott Memorial is a unique 16-sided stone-masonry building that serves as the architectural and physical centerpiece of Union College in Schenectady, New York. Its distinctive and colorful Victorian architecture makes it a National Historic Landmark. The building's design and central location can be traced back to Josef Ramee's 1813 conception of the school grounds, which were the first planned college campus in the United States.
Following the major restoration of the Nott Memorial, the Mandeville Gallery was opened in 1995 on the second floor of the building. The gallery presents changing exhibitions featuring nationally recognized, contemporary artists exploring modern issues. This provides a unique environment for viewing exhibitions due to the unusual architecture of the Nott Memorial.
The Wikoff Student Gallery is another attraction within the Nott Memorial. Located on the third floor, the gallery presents changing exhibitions featuring the work of current, full-time Union College students. This offers visitors a chance to appreciate the creativity and talent of the students.
