Parc Samà and its collection

Parc Samà
Source

Parc Samà is a historic garden and private botanical garden, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. It is located in the region of Bajo Campo, in the municipality of Cambrils. The park is situated 90 meters above sea level and is just 5 kilometers away from the Mediterranean coast. This makes it a unique location where visitors can enjoy both the beauty of the park and the nearby coastal views.

Historical Background of Parc Samà

The park was created and promoted by Salvador Samà i Torrens, Marquis of Marianao, who was the heir to a Catalan family established in Cuba. The project was commissioned to Josep Fontserè, who is known for his work on the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona. The famous architect Antoni Gaudí assisted in the project, adding to the park's historical and architectural significance.

Lake and Islands in Parc Samà

One of the most attractive features of Parc Samà is its lake, complete with a canal and waterfall. The lake covers a surface area of 1 hectare and features three islands. These islands are linked by bridges made with cement that imitates the look of wooden trunks, adding a rustic charm to the park.

Parc Samà Reviews

Parc Samà has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

Parc Samà is a historical garden located in Cambrils, Spain. This 19th-century estate offers visitors a blend of nature and architecture. The park features exotic plants, ornamental lakes, and various bird species, creating a peaceful atmosphere. While some visitors appreciate the park's tranquility and botanical diversity, others find the entrance fee slightly high for the experience offered. The manor house, though impressive from the outside, is not open to the public, which disappoints some guests. The park's maintenance could be improved in certain areas, but overall, it provides a pleasant escape from the bustling coastal towns nearby. The maze and the tower are popular attractions within the park, offering nice views of the surroundings. Keep in mind that the park is relatively small and can be explored in about an hour, which may not meet everyone's expectations for a full day out.
