Before its relocation to Brussels, the Pixel Museum was situated in Schiltigheim, France. It was inaugurated in February 2017 under the full name 'Pixel Museum: Museum of Video Games, Connected Leisure and Video Game Art'. This was the first and only permanent museum in France that was exclusively dedicated to video games.
The Pixel Museum showcased a wide range of gaming history, from the first arcade machines to the latest next-generation consoles. The museum housed 250 consoles, computers, and arcade machines, along with thousands of games. All these were exhibited over a space of 600 square meters, providing a comprehensive overview of the evolution of gaming.
The Pixel Museum offered a variety of activities for its visitors. These included creative workshops, corporate evenings, birthday celebrations, and demonstrations of independent games. The museum also provided news and previews of upcoming games. In addition to these, temporary exhibitions and events were regularly held at the museum, making each visit a unique experience.
