The Municipal Museum of Portalegre, established in 1918, is home to a significant collection of Sacred Art. This collection forms the core of the museum's exhibits, offering visitors a glimpse into the religious and artistic heritage of the region.
The museum has had several homes since its establishment. In 1932, it was moved to the church of the São Bernardo convent. However, due to difficulties in facilitating visits, it was transferred in 1959 to a 16th-century noble house located next to the Cathedral. This house had once served as the diocesan seminary, adding another layer of historical significance to the museum's location.
