This open air museum, located in the vast Genneper Parken, shows how life in the Netherlands has been over a period of 10,000 years. Starting from the Stone Age, moving on to the Iron Age, visitors can explore dwellings, tools and other structures that have been reconstructed using the same materials and methods people used thousands of years ago. From the Iron Age the tour travels through time until the Medieval era, finishing in a reconstructed inn on an old market square, where visitors can sip some mead just like in the old days.

The preHistorisch Dorp (Prehistoric Village) in Eindhoven offers visitors an engaging journey through the region's ancient past. This open-air museum recreates life from prehistoric times through the Middle Ages, allowing guests to experience history firsthand.
Visitors appreciate the hands-on nature of the exhibits, where they can participate in various activities such as archery, pottery making, and bread baking using traditional methods. The costumed staff members, who stay in character, add to the immersive experience and are often praised for their knowledge and enthusiasm.
The museum's layout, featuring reconstructed dwellings from different time periods, provides an educational and visually appealing environment. Many guests find the Iron Age and Roman sections particularly interesting. The museum also offers special events and workshops throughout the year, which are well-received by both children and adults.
However, some visitors note that the site can feel small and may not require a full day to explore thoroughly. A few guests mention that some areas could benefit from more detailed explanations or interactive elements. Additionally, while most find the entrance fee reasonable, others feel it's slightly high for the size of the museum.
The on-site cafe receives mixed reviews, with some praising the themed menu items, while others find the options limited. Accessibility for visitors with mobility issues is generally good, though some paths may be challenging due to the nature of the reconstructed village.
Overall, the preHistorisch Dorp is well-regarded as an educational and entertaining destination, particularly for families and history enthusiasts. It successfully balances education with interactive experiences, making history accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages.
