RAF Manston Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum has 2 ratings.
The RAF Manston Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum in Ramsgate, England, offers visitors a glimpse into the history of these iconic World War II aircraft. The museum houses authentic Spitfire and Hurricane planes, allowing visitors to get up close to these historic machines. Many visitors appreciate the well-preserved aircraft and the opportunity to learn about their role in the Battle of Britain.
The museum's collection includes various artifacts, memorabilia, and informative displays that provide context to the aircraft and the pilots who flew them. Visitors often comment positively on the knowledgeable and passionate volunteers who staff the museum, offering insights and answering questions.
However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small and can be thoroughly explored in a short amount of time. This may leave some feeling that the experience is somewhat limited, especially those expecting a larger facility. Additionally, a few reviews mention that some exhibits could benefit from updates or more interactive elements to enhance the visitor experience.
The location of the museum, on a former RAF base, adds to its authenticity but may be a bit out of the way for some tourists. Parking is generally reported as adequate, though the museum's accessibility for those with mobility issues has received mixed reviews.
Overall, the RAF Manston Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum is appreciated for its historical significance and the opportunity to see these legendary aircraft up close. While it may not offer an extensive day-out experience, it provides a focused and educational visit for those interested in aviation history and World War II.
Visited the museum for the Spitfire simulator experience which was an 80th birthday present. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the exhibits on display prior to my "flight". The volunteer simulator instructor, Darren Moor, talked me through the controls & in no time I was "flying" a Spit! My family & I then visited the cafe for 6 delicious, very reasonably priced, hot meals. Perfect present, highly recommended.
