Each FRAC has a unique history, its own collection, and a program of collateral activities. This allows each FRAC to have its own distinct identity. Unlike museums or art centers, FRACs are not associated with a single exhibition location. Each collection is considered a nomadic heritage, rich in educational tools, that moves within the country and abroad.

Artworks and Collections of FRACs

The works in the collections of the FRACs are mainly from the post-1960 period and are created by artists who are representative of both the French and international art scene. Each FRAC has between 350 and 2500 works in its collection. Additionally, each FRAC has an annual acquisition budget which is used to enrich its collection.

Parade: A Traveling Exhibition

Parade is a traveling exhibition that took place during three weekends in June 2010. It was based on a selection of works from the FRAC Île de France. The project was designed by Xavier Franceschi and curated by Guillaume des Anges. The exhibition moved throughout the region in the form of a tent and was set up in various public places. This unique approach to public art reflects the FRAC's mission of raising awareness of contemporary art.

The Regional Contemporary Art Fund (FRAC) in Clermont-Ferrand, France, offers visitors a diverse collection of modern and contemporary art. The museum is housed in a striking building that blends contemporary architecture with the historic surroundings. Many visitors appreciate the rotating exhibitions that showcase both regional and international artists, providing a fresh experience with each visit.

The museum's collection spans various mediums, including paintings, sculptures, installations, and digital art. Some reviewers note that the curation is thoughtful, often presenting challenging and thought-provoking pieces that encourage dialogue about current social and cultural issues.

The staff is generally described as knowledgeable and helpful, enhancing the visitor experience with insights about the artworks and artists. However, some visitors mention that more detailed information in English would be beneficial for international tourists.

The museum's size is manageable, allowing for a comprehensive viewing experience without being overwhelming. This makes it an excellent option for those looking to explore contemporary art without dedicating an entire day to the visit.

On the downside, a few visitors find some of the exhibits too abstract or difficult to interpret without guidance. Additionally, the museum's location, while central, can be a bit tricky to find for first-time visitors.
