The Rouergue Museum is not just a single location, but a federation of a dozen museums scattered throughout the Aveyron department. These museums offer a wide range of themes, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the region's rich cultural, historical, and geographical heritage.
The Rouergue Museum was officially established in 1978, following the signing of a cultural charter between the State and the Department. This charter designated it as the Rouergue Museum and assigned it two main establishments. One is located in Salles-la-Source, representing traditional arts and crafts, and the other in Espalion, focusing on local customs and manners.
