The Sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron, located near Athens, Greece, offers visitors a glimpse into ancient Greek religious practices. This archaeological site, dedicated to the goddess Artemis, features the remains of a temple, a stone bridge, and other structures from the Classical period. The on-site museum houses a collection of artifacts found during excavations, including votive offerings, sculptures, and everyday items used in rituals. While the site is not as extensive as some other Greek ruins, it provides an intimate and less crowded experience for those interested in Greek mythology and history. The peaceful setting, surrounded by a picturesque landscape, adds to the overall atmosphere. However, some visitors note that the site could benefit from more detailed information panels to better explain the significance of the ruins and artifacts. The museum, though small, is well-organized and helps contextualize the outdoor remains. Access to the site may require some planning, as it's located outside the main tourist areas of Athens.

the museum and the temple are amazing. absolutely worth visiting. i gave 4 starts because there is no public transport to get to reach the place (it is in the middle of nowhere), and then when you somehow arrive, there is nowhere to even buy a bottle of water for a tired tourist who had to walk to get there (or hire a taxi which is expensive). the museum is also poorly advertised, which is a shame (i discovered it accidentally). the museum and the temple are one of the nicest in Attica. so be prepared for a long walk or hire a taxi (secure the drive back too), make sure you get a bottle of water or two and some snack and you will enjoy the place.
