The Municipal Aquarium is dedicated to showcasing a part of the rich and diverse fauna of the Mediterranean Sea. The aquarium aims to not only entertain and inform its visitors but also to raise awareness about the importance of conserving these marine species and their habitats.
The facilities of the Municipal Aquarium cover a total area of 707 square meters. Of this, 202 square meters are occupied by the nine display tanks that hold a marine water capacity of over 210 cubic meters. These tanks are home to numerous species native to the Mediterranean.
The water in the aquarium's facilities is changed weekly by 25% through a recirculation system that is directly connected to the sea. This water is kept in a closed filtration circuit. The purification process involves a mechanical and biological filter system to which ozone is injected, maintaining a high degree of oxidation and ensuring optimal water composition.
