The Semana Santa Museum in Zamora was founded in 1957 by the city's Junta Pro Semana Santa. The museum was established with the aim of preserving and showcasing the processional steps of the brotherhoods. These were previously stored in various locations, colloquially referred to as 'paneras' in Zamora.

Popularity and Exhibits of the Semana Santa Museum

The Semana Santa Museum in Zamora is the most visited museum of its kind in Spain and also the most frequented of all museums in Zamora. It exhibits thirty-seven processional steps, which constitute the majority of those that participate in the Passion of Zamora, a total of fifty-two.

Temporary Closure and Relocation of Artifacts

The Semana Santa Museum will be closed to the public from September 18, 2022, as renovation work is anticipated to commence in October. The processional steps, utensils, and other artifacts currently housed in the museum will be relocated to various churches throughout the city during this period.
