Shibden Hall in Halifax, England, is a well-preserved historic house that offers visitors a glimpse into the lives of its past inhabitants, particularly Anne Lister, a notable 19th-century diarist. The hall's timber-framed architecture and period furnishings provide an authentic atmosphere, allowing guests to step back in time. The surrounding parkland adds to the appeal, offering pleasant walks and a mini railway for families. While some visitors appreciate the connection to the TV series "Gentleman Jack," others find the Anne Lister focus somewhat overwhelming. The staff are generally described as knowledgeable and friendly, enhancing the visitor experience. However, some guests mention that certain areas of the hall can feel cramped, and the lack of detailed information in some rooms can be disappointing. Despite these minor drawbacks, most visitors find Shibden Hall to be an engaging and worthwhile historical attraction.

Beautiful old building. I have been visiting this place for near on 60 years. Recently they have decided on doing tours of the buildings and grounds. Tickets from £20 - £70 absolutely ridiculous, seriously a trip up the tower and tunnel £27.50 you should be disgusted with yourselves. Corporate greed at its finest here.
