The Shire Hall, located in Stafford, England, is a public building that was completed in 1798. The design of the building was done by John Harvey. This historical building is a significant part of Stafford's architectural heritage and offers a glimpse into the past.
Previously, the Shire Hall served as a courthouse and also housed an art gallery, which unfortunately closed to the public in July 2017. However, the court rooms and cells within the building have been preserved, allowing visitors to experience a piece of history.
Court 1, which was used for the High Court, is now open to the public. It features displays of museum artefacts related to crime and policing. Court 2, which was the magistrates' court, is also a part of the building. These courts provide a unique insight into the judicial history of the area.
