Did you know South Hero has a wonderful museum filled with South Hero history? It's called the South Hero Bicentennial Museum. We are open Wednesdays from January - June 1st from 10 am - 12:30 pm and from June 1-Dec. 30 we are also open Saturdays from 10-1. Our museum is located at 317, Route 2 - two doors down to the right from the Kinney's Insurance building which is next to the bank. The museum is across from The Blue Paddle. You will need to park in front right on Route 2. Our mailing address is Box 180, South Hero, Vt, 05486. You might see some interesting artifacts from over 100 years ago. Things that are unique to South Hero like the TURNOUT sign that was used on the sandbar bridge when the bridge was so narrow that only one wagon or car could fit at a time. You can also see some old machines that were used in the old bean factory and corn factory that were located on Tracy Rd near the Crick. Our research library contains binders where you can find historical background of the Sandbar, Island Families, Sites and Structures, Photo Albums, etc. We have Oral Histories, DVDs, Memoires, and much more. You just might learn something that you didn't know but now you cherish and appreciate about South Hero! Hope to see you there! Thank you from the SHBM Team
