The Metropolitan Museum of Art Reviews

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, located in New York City, is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive art museums. Visitors consistently praise its vast collection, which spans over 5,000 years of human creativity from around the globe. The museum's extensive exhibits cover a wide range of art forms, including paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and ancient artifacts.

Many reviewers highlight the museum's impressive architecture and the grand scale of its galleries. The Met's Egyptian collection, including the Temple of Dendur, is frequently mentioned as a standout attraction. The American Wing, European paintings, and the Arms and Armor collection also receive high praise from visitors.

The museum's temporary exhibitions are often cited as thought-provoking and well-curated, offering fresh perspectives on various artistic themes and periods. Many visitors appreciate the audio guides and free tours, which provide insightful context to the artworks.

However, some reviewers note that the museum's size can be overwhelming, and it's impossible to see everything in one visit. A few visitors mention that the crowds can be dense, especially during peak times, which may impact the viewing experience. Additionally, some find the suggested admission fee to be on the higher side, although it's worth noting that it is "pay-what-you-wish" for New York State residents and students from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Despite these minor drawbacks, the vast majority of visitors find The Metropolitan Museum of Art to be an enriching and educational experience, offering a comprehensive look at human artistic achievement throughout history.
