The Toy Museum, once located in Sintra, a district of Lisbon in Portugal, was home to an international collection of toys. The museum was housed in the former Sintra Town Hall, a building constructed in the 18th century and classified as being included in the Old Town and the Sintra Mountains and the Protected Area of Sintra - Cascais.
The Toy Museum's collection was diverse, ranging from model airplanes, cars, and trains, including 1930s Hornby sets, to battalions of toy soldiers, dolls and dollhouses, tin toys, and curious wind-up cars and soldiers. This wide variety of toys offered a glimpse into the history and evolution of toys from different periods and regions.
The toys that were displayed in the Museum were part of a collection that was gathered over more than 60 years by the collector João Arbués Moreira. The collection began when he was 14 years old, with toys that were given to him and others that belonged to his parents and grandparents.
