Many reviewers appreciate the museum's diverse collection, which spans from prehistoric times to the present day. The exhibits on local history, particularly those related to the Troubles, are often cited as informative and thought-provoking.
The museum's natural history section, featuring dinosaur fossils and geological displays, is popular among families and science enthusiasts. Art lovers frequently praise the gallery spaces, which showcase both historical and contemporary works.
Visitors generally find the museum well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear signage and informative displays. Many appreciate that admission is free, allowing for repeated visits to fully explore the extensive collections.
Some reviewers note that certain areas of the museum could benefit from updates or expansion, and a few mention that more interactive elements could enhance the experience, especially for younger visitors. Occasionally, visitors report that some exhibits are temporarily closed or under renovation, which can be disappointing.
The museum's café receives mixed reviews, with some praising the quality of food and others finding it somewhat overpriced. The gift shop is generally well-regarded for its selection of local crafts and books.
Overall, the Ulster Museum is widely recognized as a valuable cultural institution in Belfast, offering an educational and engaging experience for visitors of all ages, with room for some minor improvements.
Visited the museum several times during a week long holiday and was most impressed. However, the greatest impact from our visit was the sensory room where we met Megan who was an absolute joy to speak too. Her interaction with her clients is second to none and is a major asset to the museum. Thank you Megan for being the highlight of our holiday.

As a regular visitor to the Ulster museum I'm deeply concerned by your pro abortion propaganda which trivialises the intentional ending of human life.
Abortion is a very emotive topic and one which has caused women worldwide to suffer emotionally mentally and physically. It is not a laughing matter.
To use such propaganda and more shockingly your use of jovial colloquial slang is outrageous, particularly when we are facing an on demand abortion service in NI for babies in the womb up to 7 months and birth for disabilities including club foot and cleft palate.
Your display insinuates women are jailed or could be jailed for abortion. The reality is not one woman in Ireland has ever been prosecuted over abortion. In fact there has only ever been 2 cases of prosecution in the UK as a whole since 1967 when the Abortion Act was introduced. One case involved a man who put abortion pills into a pregnant womans food and the other involved a woman who self aborted at birth. Her baby has never been found to this day.
I'm completely shocked at your display and would seriously urge you to reconsider it as trivialises the violent ending of human life. Furthermore in my view the display is wholly inappropriate and biased. It has put me off returning to visit until it is removed. I know many others are also in disbelief that you have taken this political stance.
