Universal Destinations & Experiences, previously known as Universal Parks & Resorts, is the amusement park division of NBCUniversal, which is a subsidiary of Comcast. The company, headquartered in Orlando, Florida, operates Universal parks and resort properties worldwide. The origins of the Universal Parks & Resorts division date back to 1964 when, in addition to the traditional mini-bus tour, Universal inaugurated a real amusement park in Hollywood.
Universal Studios has a long history of organizing guided tours of its Hollywood studios. As early as 1911, its founder proposed a tour of his studios with a stop at his farm where his wife sold eggs. These tours provide tourists with the opportunity to see the sets and props used in some of the company's most famous films and television series.
To increase its visitor numbers, Universal parks utilize licenses belonging to NBC Universal, or licenses granted through the signing of specific agreements. An example of this is the agreement with Nintendo, which allows for the use of the company's characters in its attractions.
