The Zoo of Córdoba was opened its doors at the end of 1967 and was officially inaugurated May 15, 1968. The zoo is located in the lower part of Cruz Conde Park, initially had 8,000 square meters and 150 animals, most of which were donated by Juan Barasona. In 2006 the zoo was completely renovated with numerous more animal species and many new facilities on an area of approximately 4.5 hectares. In total, the park has 437 animals of 102 different species including mammals, birds and reptiles.
