Alice is a city located in Jim Wells County, Texas, United States. Situated in the South Texas region, approximately 45 miles west of Corpus Christi, Alice was founded in the early 1880s and developed as a regional center for ranching and oil industries. The city was named after Alice Kleberg, daughter of Richard King, who was the founder of the famous King Ranch.
Throughout its history, Alice has maintained its cultural heritage influenced by Mexican-American and ranching traditions. The discovery of oil in the 1940s brought significant development to the area, and today the city continues to be an important hub for both agriculture and energy sectors in South Texas. The local community preserves its history through various cultural events and maintains several historical buildings that reflect its ranching and petroleum heritage.
