Alma, located in Park County, Colorado, holds the distinction of being the highest incorporated municipality in North America, sitting at an elevation of 10,578 feet (3,224 meters).
This historic mountain town was established in 1873 during Colorado's mining boom era, when silver and gold discoveries drew settlers to the area. Although its mining days are past, Alma retains much of its authentic mountain town character, with historic buildings that reflect its role in Colorado's mining heritage.
The town is positioned near popular outdoor recreation areas, including Mount Bross and other "14ers" (mountains exceeding 14,000 feet in elevation), making it a gateway for hiking and outdoor activities in the Rocky Mountains.
